FORGOTTEN FIGURE IN HISTORY OF BLACK BRITAIN5075.JPG
A major new art installation will be unveiled at St. James’s Church, Piccadilly to commemorate Quobna Ottobah Cugoano, one of UK’s most important 18th century abolitionists and a seminal figure in the history of Black Britain.
Curated by Ekow Eshun, the installation is the first permanent art commission to commemorate Cugoano’s life anywhere in the world and marks the 250th anniversary of his baptism at St James’s Piccadilly.
